The name
Raj is Rajshahi. Royal is what Rajshahi was.
Under the Bengal Presidency this city was a divisional capital. It is still the Varendra Bhumi — the silk city, the city of schools — and the Padma still runs along its southern edge.
A hotel named for the place, and for the standard the place once kept.
Royal Raj Hotel & Condominium opened on 13 March 2022 at 26 & 27 Gonokpara, a few minutes from the river and inside walking distance of the courts, the university road and the silk houses.
Ninety-odd rooms across eight types, two banquet halls, a restaurant, a café, a spa and an infinity pool on the roof. Four-star, and the largest house of its kind in the district — the first place in Rajshahi where a visitor can get an international-standard room, a proper conference floor and a real kitchen in the same building.
The crest carries a crown over an R inside a wreath. It is the whole idea in one mark: a provincial capital that kept its bearing, and a house that means to keep it too.

Rajshahi, in short.
Silk, mangoes, and more schools per square mile than anywhere else in the country. The Padma runs along the southern edge; the embankment is ten minutes from our door. Royal Raj sits in Boalia, the old administrative heart, which is why the courts, the colleges and most of the offices you are probably visiting are all within a short drive.
